10. Khalid El-Amin

The heart and soul of the 1999 championship team, Khalid El-Amin remains one of the most beloved Huskies in school history. With a gregarious, heart-on-his-sleeve personality and toughness that embodied his hardscrabble upbringing in Minneapolis, El-Amin helped engineer one of the greatest upsets in NCAA championship history when Connecticut defeated Duke, 77-74 in the 1999 final. He ranks eighth all-time in Huskies history in assists with 479, ranks sixth in steals with 186, and tenth in points, having put up 1,650 in his three years in Storrs. But he’ll be forever remembered for running towards the CBS cameras following the 1999 national championship game, jumping up and down and screaming, “We shocked the world! We shocked the world!” He didn’t do very much at all in the NBA (only 1 season of 6 points per game), so he will obviously always be remembered for his days at UConn.
