Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad combined to make a great one-two punch for the Panthers. Smith was an elite deep threat with great speed, and Muhammad was the perfect receiver to go over the middle with his big body. Ricky Proehl rounded out the group, but he was at the end of his career and his impact was hardly felt. Muhammad’s best season came the following year, but Smith only played in one game that year due to injury. Smith really broke out in the 2005 season, but by then, Muhammad had taken his talent to Chicago. Both wide receivers during their span together combined for ten seasons of over 1,000+ receiving yards and totaled 167 touchdowns. Both Smith and Muhammad also enjoyed success with other teams, but nothing will ever top what they accomplished together with the Panthers.
